Pathfinder Mini's from the Reaper Bones line

I just finished up a couple of figures for a Pathfinder game my wife and I are in. I'm a sorcerer and she's a druid, both half-elves. So I went through my Vampire Box from the Reaper Kickstarter and found 2 appropriate minis. I gave the plastic figures a light wash in warm soapy water to clean off any release agent that may be on them and primed them black.

I noticed a couple of spots where the primer didn't take hold, so in the future I'll wash them a little more aggressively. I started with my character because the figure was revealing it's personality to as I looked it over to see the details on the little guy.

Other than the spots where the primer didn't take, painting the mini's was a breeze, pretty much like any other figure, with the exception being that the lighter material made balancing the mini taped on top of a cork, so I could better paint them without touching, better since they weren't as top heavy.

Here are the finished pieces, still awaiting a clear coat . I was going to use flat, but my wife think a semi-gloss would make them "pop" more.

New location for my hobby table.

After putting up with the ever encroaching army of miniatures in our living room for years, my wife asked if I could move my painting station to another room. I actually was excited to make the transition as the TV tray I used forced me to lean over so much I couldn't paint much without getting a really sore back, so I 'm using an old drafting table with a new "task" chair and the work surface is the perfect hieght.

Plus I have a lot more room to speread out now.

Exodite Dire Avengers

Making slow progress on my Eldar war host, what with the distractions in my house of step-daughter, her dog. Here are some pictures of the progress I'm making.

They're comprised of Fantasy Warhammer High Elf heads and Dark Elf pirate legs with Dire Avenger Torsos and arms.

Unfortunately these guys has a bit of an issue with the spray paint I used to base coat them and it got some dust in it or reacted weirdly with the plastic.

At least I'll be able to tell the two units apart easily. This kind of creativity Ill miss once GW drives all the bitz sellers out of business.

Pathfinder ship

My Pathfinder campaign is one of steampunky, piratey goodness. My group just got their first big ship and so my wife and I made this for the campaign.

I found the PDFs for these ships on Drive-Thru RPG from Zero-Hour.

Printed them out and glued them to foam-core and my wife cut them out.

So now we have appropriate deck plans for fights.

I'll post a link to the pdfs below through the Paizo website. There are 3 ships/boats total in the document a dingy, a 50ft small ship and this bad boy.  The gun deck as an optional overlay.

Warwalkers done, plus magnetic set up explained.

After a myriad of touch ups and finishing up the bases, they were dull coated and the canopies were put on late last night. And here they are.

Morning Patrol.

Notice each is set up with twins of the same weapons.

All of the weapons I've magnetized are polarized so that the left gun will always work on the left side of a turret or weapons mount.

But I realized that with the war walkers that would mean I their weapons would be on opposite mounts or I would have to mix and match weapons pairs and that's not efficent.

So I reversed the polarity of the second war walker's magnets. That way when you pull of the rihjt handed weapon on one it mounts on the left of the other.

Thus the pairings match.

If I ever get the third one I'll set it up as the regular polarity since I wuld need to use another set (or sets) of weapons to match the configuration anyway.

Warwalkers in the wild jungle of the planet "Bakyerd"

The thick overgrowth slows even these large, graceful machines.

Stay tuned, Exodite Dire Avengers and Screaming Banshees are on their way.

Warwalkers are close to done.

Making good progress on the 2 warwalkers I've got. Finished painting and put a couple of decals on. Just need to wait for the Mirco-Sol to do it's work and then I can flatcoat them tomorrow. I'll do a little photo explaination of the way I magnetized these so that the if they are carrying different weapons they will carry them identically.

I just wish I got around to getting that 3rd one.

Dires are Done!

Finished these guys up last night.

Be interesting to see how the new Bladestorm ability works out.

Next up my Exodite Dire Avengers.

The Hornet

Here is my Forge World Eldar Hornet. I was given this as a birthday present 2 years ago and it's been slow going. I let it sit for a while because I wasn't comfortable working with resin. I had to do the boiling water trick to get the big guns to straighten out. I'm hoping to have this ready for the BayCon Model Show this Fall.

The story of this build so far has it's fair share of "Oops!" moments. I primed it grey and when to put a base coat of white to make the colors pop. The white paint had gone off (I also stupidly used Testers Flat White), and it puddled...badly. So I had to dunk it in Simple Green for a day or 2 and clean it off. While trying to gently apply elbow grease to clean the surface I broke off one of the stabilizer fins. Things got better after that. I magnetized it so I can swap out weapons and have reached the point where it's down to detail work.

Dire's near completion

Just need a few more details. touch ups and a wash with blue ink and these guys will be ready for seal-coat!

I'm painting this unit (as well as the exodite Dires) to what I like to refer to as the "3ft. Standard" and not "Model Show: standard, meaning they'll look good on the table, but close inspection will not be as rewarding as some of my Aspect Warriors will be.

Starting to finish...again.

With the new Eldar Codex in my hands and a couple of months with extra house guest coming in July, I'm suddenly inspired to take the final steps on all the Eldar units I've almost finished. That way I can take advantage of the local games store's Thursday night WartyK games as an excuse to get out of the temporally crowded house and extra night a week. Pulled out the 2 Dire Avenger squads and started painting belts, gems and accessories. I felt good, now with a freshly clean off hobby table, cleared of all the million of projects clawing for my attention. Next I'll work on my Banshees, then lastly my Dark Reapers.  Oh and the war walkers, ok one step at a time or I'll get overwhelmed.
